About the event

The practice of yin yoga is meant to delve into deeper layers. Rooted in traditional Chinese medicine, the name of yin alone denotes its side of the duality within nature - the concept of yin and yang. The feminine energy of yin encapsulates all things dark, mysterious, receptive and introspective. It’s the moonlight versus the sunlight of yang energy. The aim of this practice is to free “stuck” qi [chi] or life force energy that runs through us - meant to be in flux with nature. Similar to acupuncture, we do this by targeting specific meridian lines that each correspond to different seasons, bodily organs, emotions and elements. Another payoff of this practice is down-regulating the nervous system while addressing our deeper connective tissues as we soften into stillness.  Join Mary Heather as she guides you thru a sequence dedicated to the late summer, harvest season which we celebrate with the autumnal equinox. This season can often bring about worrisome, overwhelming thoughts if it finds us with imbalanced qi. Through both long-held, grounded yin postures and nourishing sound healing performed by Sohum’s own, Angela, we’ll release those stuck energies and celebrate the abundance of this season and leave feeling more centered and at home within ourselves.
