One and a half months ago, we started making masks for family, friends, and local businesses. When we got our first big order, we thought, 'how can we make masks available to more people since demand was high and availability was low?' Within a week, we rushed to get a website up, organize our studio space, and make it legit. Since then we've made over 500 masks and orders continue to roll in. We couldn't be more grateful for the support and the opportunity to provide something so crucial at this time. We'll continue to keep them affordable and well made, and donate as many as possible in between orders.
Although making masks was never in our plan, it was the catalyst to get out of our heads and into action. We are a family of creative thinkers and artists and "putting ourselves out there" is not done without careful consideration, lots of trial and error, thinking and overthinking, and many many conversations over delicious food and drinks. To be honest, we could easily dream our way into oblivion because creative communion fuels our fire. What it doesn't fuel is YOUR fire, and something we are passionate about is putting our gifts and ideas out there to help inspire growth, change, love, and awe in our community.
The idea for SOHUM as a business, a philosophy, and a physical space, has been in our minds and hearts for years. We only began to put the dreams into action in early 2019.
What is it exactly? What can we do? What should we do? Where? How?
The truth is, it can't be put into one category because our dream for SOHUM goes far beyond a single title. Yes, there will be food, there will be a farm/garden, there will be crafts, art, apparel, wellness products, nature workshops, yoga, and more.
Not all at once, we may be idealistic, but that's pushing it! haha All in due time.
One thing is for sure, there is connective tissue between everything that makes up SOHUM; a foundation in holistic wellness, a belief in the healing effects of nature, art, and creative expression, and the support of other local businesses, all coming together to create a powerful community of like minded individuals trying to live their best life.
SOHUM is slowly evolving and coming to life, and with the way the world is now, we are happy to be taking our time to give it the love and attention it deserves. We have so many plans, ideas, and creations to share with you. Thank you for being a part of the very beginning. If you are reading this, you are a crucial part of our journey and our inspiration.
